From the President’s Desk
Lori Fruhwirth, 2024-2025 Department of Alaska President
Happy Holidays to all of our Legion family. I hope everyone is staying warm and well during this busy season.
I would like to thank everyone who attended our Fall Conference, especially the guest speakers who helped clarify and gave insight to our different programs. I hope everyone learned something new. I know I did. Most importantly, I want to THANK Spenard Post 28 for their hospitality and hard work. It would not been a success with them.
I am happy to report that the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Alaska signed an agreement with the American Legion Department of Alaska concerning the Legionnaire Insurance Trust (LIT). This agreement allows the Auxiliary to participate in the Hospital Help, Cancer Care, Accidental Death, Travel Accident, ID Resolve and the Emergency Assistance Plans provided by the LIT. It was also agreed that the Department will transmit to the Auxiliary any revenue earned from the Auxiliary within the LIT Program, based on our participation. I encourage everyone of our members to look into what the LIT has to offer.
I wish I could just once not have to bring up membership, but as you know it is the one program that we all have to constantly work. As of December 11, 2024 we are at 58.52% of our membership goal. It has come to my attention that some of our Units have yet to renew their officers and their honorary life members. Please have your membership chair check and correct this oversight. They should have been among the first to be paid.
During this hectic time of working, shopping and family, I encourage everyone to stop and remember all our Veterans. This is a tough time of year for them and depression sets in. So please, Talk, Listen, show we Care. Be the One.
I wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season and pray you have a wonderful New Year.
For God and Country,
Yours in Service,
Lori Fruhwirth, President
American Legion Auxiliary
Department of Alaska
